I used a 20 inch ribbon and it's 1 1/2 inches in width, needle and thread. You don't need to use glue gun but it makes it easier and to finish your flower faster. When you are done doing the run on stick on the squares you can save your thread and stich the flower together. I just find it easy with a hot glue gun is up to you.
